=== 1. Verify Physical Connection ===
  - Check that the RS-232 port is securely connected to the computer or device.
  - Ensure that any required drivers are installed for the RS-232 hardware.

=== 2. Check the Device Manager (Windows) ===
If you are using a Windows operating system:
  - Open **Device Manager**:
     - Press **Win + R**, type `devmgmt.msc`, and hit **Enter**.
  - Look under **Ports (COM & LPT)** for your RS-232 port (e.g., COM1, COM2).
  - If the port appears with a yellow exclamation mark, there may be a driver issue. Update the driver by:
     - Right-clicking the port > **Update driver** > **Search automatically for updated driver software**.
  - Note the COM port number assigned to the RS-232 port.
